What do owls, skinny legs, and thrift-store flannels have in common?
I'm perched on a rock in a canyon just above Page Springs campground and am barely breathing. A few feet away is a Western Screech Owl sleeping in a Juniper tree. We've been looking for awhile to find him. Two times yesterday and then again this morning. He is almost half-way up the tree--next to the trunk--probably about ten feet up.

Something's in the air and it ain't love, but it's almost as good

The falling water was mesmerizing. Never-ending as it tumbled down the basalt rocks to a pool that was a couple of hundred feet below. Thunderous, gushing water. Its powerful splashes sending waves of swirling water and mist everywhere, covering the rocks, stone path, ferns, moss and my face. I took a deep breath.
