During foreboding times like these, look to the earth’s healing power to help ward off your fears. Grounding or sometimes called earthing is a powerful technique that will help you harmonize your energy. The effects of this ancient practice, which can be traced back thousands of years in Chinese medicine, might seem mysterious, but there is science behind this technique, which connects your energy with the earth’s magnetic field.

The benefits are profound. Overall, your energy will be harmonized and you’ll feel better when grounded— centered, solid, strong, balanced, and relaxed.

How to practice grounding

Weather permitting, walking barefoot outside is the easiest way to connect with the earth’s electrical energy. Think beach walking. However, your body can draw the earth’s electrical energy in by sitting or standing barefoot on soil, grass, sand, or concrete to get the same benefits. Wood and asphalt are not conductive surfaces.

Find a place to sit or stand outside barefoot. It could be your own backyard. Plant your feet solidly on the ground. Close your eyes or soften your gaze and take five deep breaths. Feel the solidness of the earth beneath you. Imagine that you have roots growing deep, deep into the ground. Let your thoughts go and keep your attention on the earth below you. Now, imagine that you are drawing her immense strength up into you. Do that for a few minutes. Soon you'll feel centered and more calm from the energy that is connecting with your body. Relax into feelings of protection and support. Do this often for five to ten minutes. Before long you’ll experience a harmonized mind, body, and spirit.

Be Well!
